What first inspired you to pursue a career in beauty, and how did you get started in the industry?
I've been drawn to makeup for as long as I can remember. My mom loves to tell the story that by the time I was three years old, I could apply lipstick better than she could.
Looking back, it's funny, but it was also the beginning of a passion that has stayed with me my entire life. Getting started in the beauty industry was truly a leap of faith. I didn't have a roadmap, but I did have a lot of determination. I used every resource available to me, spent countless hours researching, and reached out to anyone whose contact information I could find. I've always believed that it never hurts to try.
The worst someone can say is no, and then you're exactly where you started!From the very beginning, I hustled and put myself out there every chance I got. I wanted people to see not only my talent, but also my work ethic, reliability, and genuine passion for what I do.
That same excitement I had as a little girl playing with makeup has been the driving force behind my career, and it's what continues to motivate me every day.
What does beauty mean to you on a personal level?
Feeling good in your skin. CONFIDENCE!
What inspires your creativity when it comes to makeup and content creation?
My inspiration truly comes from everywhere. There isn't just one source that fuels my creativity, which is one of the things I love most about being an artist. Of course, other makeup artists are a huge inspiration, but so are nature, color, fashion, interior design, and really anyone who expresses creativity in a unique way.
I especially love interior design because it's such an unexpected source of inspiration. A color palette, a texture, or even the mood of a space can spark an idea for a makeup look. I also find inspiration in TV, films, photography, and social media. They're all incredible places to discover new perspectives and artistic approaches.
At the end of the day, I try to keep myself open to inspiration wherever it appears. Creativity doesn't exist within boundaries, and I think that's what makes this industry so exciting.
Do you have go-to Bodyography products you can’t live without, and why?
The Glitter Pigments are truly something I have to have with me in my kit at all times as well as the Crystal Glide Liquid Eyeshadow. I haven't had a chance to try out a lot of the products you guys offer, but have my eyes on a few things I think could become a staple for me.
What’s the best beauty tip or lesson you’ve learned from your mom, grandma, or another important woman in your life?
Never go to sleep with your makeup on!
What’s your biggest beauty blunder — and what did you learn from it?
Ignoring the importance of Skin Prep
What’s one trend you’ve never tried but would love to experiment with?
I'd love to recreate iconic beauty looks from different decades and reinterpret them with a modern twist.
Who is your ultimate beauty muse, and why do they inspire you?
One of my ultimate beauty muses is the makeup Queen herself, Mary Phillips. I've always admired her ability to create timeless, natural, effortlessly sexy, and tasteful makeup that enhances a person's features, never overshadowing the person wearing it.
Her artistry definitely played a huge inspiration of my own approach to makeup, what I like to call "snatchural". Creating looks that feel soft, sculpted, and elevated while still looking like you.
